Festival @ Brick Lane this sunday
May 12, 2006 – 4:58 pmthe eighth ‘Baishaki Mela’ takes place this Sunday 14th May between 11am and 7.00pm @ Brick Lane - which will be pedestrianised for the day.
“The Baishaki Mela is a unique festival, born out of the collective aspirations of a generation of Bengali people who wanted to celebrate the Bangla New Year. The festival has developed into a sensational extravaganza promoting all that Brick Lane and ‘Banglatown’ has to offer to people across London, the UK and abroad. From its humble beginnings the event has rapidly established itself as the world’s largest Bengali celebration outside of Bangladesh..”
A colourful procession starts off the event at 11 a.m. News also that there will be a food festival this year, as well as exhibitions and performances, and rickshaw rides!
and apparently Ken Livingstone’s been invited as well…
i’ve never been before so this should be good fun.

so Comrade Sonia Mukherjee’s blog is still carrying on its leftist tirade. Well, she must be pleased now that the leftists have scored another victory in her native bengal.
Anyway no one except the benagli communists give a damn about baisakhi. I dont celebrate it ever. It is disgusting that in this era of science and technology such obsolete rituals like Marxism and Baisakhism continue to muddle the minds of people.
I don’t think Bengal has any future, it is going to go down and in the process it will drag rest of India wiht it. The stock markets crashed the moment leftist victory in Bengal was announced. While rest of India was racked with deep frustration the fish eating bengalis rejoice. How disgusting!

I can suggest you whole lot of nice names. Sonia Banerjee, Sonia Basu, Sonia Chaterjee, etc! But the fact is that it is these so called Banerjee’s, Chatterjee’s and Mukherjee’s who are responsible for dragging india into the cesspit of communism. We are fed up of the shoddy voting habits of these Bengalis! How can they ever bear to continue with the same corrupt regime for so many years. Maybe they like eating stale stinking fish.
