google and china: a vehicle of censorship

January 25, 2006 – 2:37 pm

Google is to launch a censored version of its search engine for China. what a bunch of bloody hypocrites.

google are cunts. yes i’ve decided. do you think we could have a version of the ‘london underground are cunts’ song for them? i reckon we might be able to rustle up some support.

not happy with their existing ‘almost monopoly’ ooh no they want more more more - and the biggest audience of them all: china. so now they decide - hey let’s join forces and be a bunch of censors why not. Gotta be in bed with the authoritarians don’t we if we want their business.. 100 million eyeballs..ooh the heart beats pitter pat. Greedy fuckers. Let’s be straight about this: they would in effect become a vehicle of censorship, a vehicle of repression.
More on this when i’ve had a chance to think straight and calm down.

In the meantime, for a bit of sardonic humour on this - take a look at The Robert Swipe Show..

  2. While accussing Google of hypocirisy, you are proving yourself to be somewhat dimwitted.

When a highway robber forces me to part with my wallet who is at fault. Me or the robber. A person like you would probably prefer to lay blame on me.

Similarly when Google is forced to apply self censorship who is at fault. Not Google, because it is the leftist laws in China that force Google to do that. if Google has to work in China it has to obey Chinese laws, just as while working in US it has to obey US laws. The Chinese are behaving like a highway robber, it is either their way or the highway to death. The poor folks at Google are only obeying the Chinese to save thier business and maybe thier life as well.

It is the leftist Chinese who are cunts and not Google. But i never expected a diehard, Stalinist like you to see the point. Go hug a tree and chant your silly little tree songs. Things like Google are way beyond your comprehension.

  3. obviously the Chinese govt. are a bunch of dodgy fuckers - and Google being their vehicle of repression are a bunch of dodgy fuckers. its like people who think AlQaeda is a dodgy outfit would no doubt think an organization that was their PR firm is an equally dodgy outfit.

if i were like the chinese and like google, i’d censor your not very clever comments.

from your point of view and ‘moral’ everything is black and white- where’s the moral good and greatness here? ( that you claim comes along automatically with capitalism)

and im not dimwitted at all - google have themselves admitted to the lack of fit with their ‘mission’ and that they’ve had to be ’soul-searching’ to go down this route. and why is that? because they’ve been paying lip service all along to not ‘making profit for profit’s sake’. that’s the problem for them and they know it.. If it had been Microsoft, there wouldn’t be much ‘hypocrisy’ cos as we all know, they’d sell their grandma if it would make them a profit.

anyway this comes back to the core of what’s wrong in the current system - [call it capitalism if you like -u will anyway mindless robot that you are- but clearly not - as the Chinese refer to themselves as ‘communists’ and you call them ‘leftists’ ¬!and this particular problem involves them - but not that you’d get the complexity of an interweaving system as opposed to simple silly ‘ideologies’ which are completely different in practice cos you’re such a stupid baboon :-)) but simply this:

corporations become big and powerful to the point where :

    a) no one can hold ‘them’/'it’ accountable
    b) a corporation( a legal organizational non-living entity) have more rights than a human ( a living entity)

  4. Oh, so the fat grandma Sonia is climbing up her tree ‘Moralistic’ yet again!

Care to give it a thought- but for “capitalist” organizations like Google, Microsoft, AOL, (the whole lot of capitalist Companies that invented the Internet) lefties like you would not have the mouthpiece to sit in their drawing rooms and prattle about human rights and free speech.

Free speech does not mean that you have to provide a mouthpiece to every slimy tom, dickhead and harry potter thorough which he or she can prattle his obscene nonsense.

Free speech is a concept that applies only to the government. It cannot apply to a private organization. Only Government has the power to censor free speech, a private company refusing to carry views that it does not like is not censorship.

For the simple reason that a private organization is not obliged to become a mouth piece for one and all. A private organization should and would work for its self interst.

If i delete an obscene comment that some leftist idiot dared to leave on my blogsite then that is not censorship. For my blog is my private property, and it is i who decide whose views I want to display on it and whose I choose to delete.

Similarly for Google, it is private property, It is the Google people who will decide whose views they want to carry and whose views they will delete.

Go create your own Google and find out for yourself how difficult and how impossible it is to be an independent capitalist enterprenuer.

  5. ha ha yeah mr. bb can’t you read? clearly not. Not addressing any of my points as usual in your troll-ish robotic way - clearly your English teacher in school didn’t teach you comprehension and things like relevance to the point at hand. ( ah well there there, don’t worry, remember the whole point of a free society is one of self-betterment :-) and enlightenment. so rest assured indian capitalist you won’t be Left Behind…
im sure you must have a great difficulty being a writer. i suppose its fine in india as you can use a long word and that will have everyone fooled. such a verbose bunch of people - and then you assume you’re all being poetic. Really, you lot make me laugh..;-) all of you such conformists and sticking up how you’re all such Ayn Rand fans. and i can see where you’re coming from, since you come from such a poor background its not surprising you look up to what u imagine to be capitalism. anyway who was talking about capitalism? but if you’d like to, since i’m suchan ardent capitalist and i believe in the free market and that the business motto: consumer is king - well then that’s why i think i have every right to decide what sorts of businesses i’m a user of :-) hee heh. wouldn’t you say?
anyway ta ta mr. baboon i am enjoying myself, i didn’t think it was possible for robots and computers to be so stupid.
    bechara.

  6. “tree ‘Moralistic’ yet again!” - what a funny statement from mr. indian capitalist - given his ‘black and white’ thesis which is all about moral positions. ( check out this thread of comments where Indian Capitalist has failed spectacularly ( as usual) to address Tom’s points:

  7. I will overlook your scurrilous comments, for I am quite used to such leftist brick backs.

    “consumer is king ”

For your information this is NOT a capitalist motto. There are NO kings or paupers in a capitalist society. A capitalist society is completely free, neither the consumer not the producer can afford to be a king in a capitlalist society.

When there is a capitalist society, each person will have to produce value, which he can then exchange for another value.

Coming back to free speech. Yes, in a capitalist society every one has the right to speak his mind and find all the information it needs.

But it is not my job or Google’s job to provide poeople with a microphone to prattle their views or a search engine to look for information. Google is a private company, it can choose to restrict the use of its serch engine if it so desires.

You can’t force any company in a capitalist society to sell things that it does not want to sell.

For example you cannnot force Pepsi to sell certain type of cold drinks. It is pepsi that will decide what kind of cold drink it will sell. Similarly it is Google that will decide waht kind of information it will sell. NOT any leftist like you.
