more blog wars : the guardian news blog
October 17, 2005 – 5:29 pmthe fun on the guardian blogs goes on. i’ve been posting on the News Blog - an old article dating back from last wednesday titled -” Burberry checks ferret fashion” (! indeed) Still a lot of activity on this particular one - thanks to indian capitalist. take a look at the blog and see what all the fuss is about. providing quite a lot of amusement all round i think, generally the idea appears to be if you want to rant against a bunch of lefty-types, what better place to do that but the Guardian!
this person appears to think that environmentalism is a ‘bogey’ invented by socialists and communists. ( apparently bracket includes not just Stalin and Mao [and those other lovely authoritarian fascists that IC seems to have so much in common with - haha- ] but basically anyone who likes to share their cookies around)
also anything that’s wrong with the world according to IC can be blamed on the ‘germ of communism’ - which apparently - was spread to asia from europe. ( oh right - we asians aren’t capable of thinking for ourselves…??)
Whatever next. Does anyone know this person?
p.s. if you’ve read a book called ‘a thread of life’ by anoop verma, (shristi publishers: new delhi) then do let me know. i’d like to know what it’s like but don’t fancy spending any money on it. having looked at the blog link from the guardian posts, it seems to indicate that the author of this book and indian capitalist are one and the same.
see what a lot of lovely publicity i’ve generated for you mr. IC - you should be grateful -no? After all, going around and mouthing off has always been the best PR stunt, and if you’re a die-hard capitalist you ought to appreciate that. i’m always happy to channel money towards entertaining causes.

but you misjudged me.
‘this person appears to think that environmentalism is a bogey invented by socialists and communists. ”
I dont just think it to be so. I know it to be a bogey. After the demise of communism in soviet union all the slimy little communists were in danger of going out of work so they invented the bogey of environmentalism to get themselves back into business.
If Marx were alive I am sure he would have written a book called Das Environmentalism. That would have contained all sort of lies about how industry and mankind in general were destroying the environment.
Wake Up!! before it is too late. Environmentalism is as evil an concept as communism or socialism. Only unbridled industrialization under an arch-capitalist regime can save this planet from doom towards which it is being herded by the communists.

so the russians invented environmentalism eh? :-))
im glad bangladesh, a poor little country - your neighbour- even though it has very little resources and technological advancement compared to India - had the sense to realize how vulnerable it is to climate change. Do you know they got rid of plastic bags and that the noisy auto-scooter things ( i dont know how you refer to them but those black things that make a hell of a lot of noise..and smoke..and cause so much pollution that people’s lungs are fucked..) have now had to go and be replaced with versions that have cleaner less polluting engines. i will go and look up the technicalities and blog it i think!
seriously though - good luck to you mate, i hope you don’t live in a part of the world that will get submerged when the icecaps melt. its not only Bangladesh that floods nowadays.

OK, Ok, now i realize what your problem is. You are a Bangladeshi living in UK and being from a weaker cultural background you have lost your ability to reject the ideological BS that your cultural superiors (the anglo-saxons) are pounding you with. So you accept every thing they say as the next holy revelation- Global warming is true because the white liberals say it is, socialism is jolly good because the white liberals say it is.
It is time you developed a spine for yourself. It is never the case that the white liberals have always to be in the right. Frankly, they are wrong in the case of Global warming as they were wrong when they were eulogizing communism and foisted it on unsuspecting and foolish Asians.
I think you have been brainwashed by your white commie friends. You should come back to Bangladesh for some time and take a look at just what is happening in your country. I tell you Bangaladesh is not the paradise that you assume it is as you look from across the seven seas. Even your nostalgia for Bangal is the result of the ideology of multi-culturalism that the Europeans have floated. Multiculturalism is BS. All cultures cannot be equal. Some cultures are good and others are outright evil.
I have many friends in Calcutta and also in Bangal as well as in UK so I know things about all the world.

you presume so much. first of all no-one is my ‘cultural superior’ - i believe in equality. i’m luckily not affected by racist inferiority issues like you are : frankly i dont see things in terms of black/white or brown/white. also you clearly have never been outside of india if you think all ‘white’ people are liberals - that’s so funny! a huge number of americans are conservative for instance. and in any to refer to all British people as anglo-saxon is incorrect - you’ve picked that up from mr. huntington.
p.s. i don’t have nostalgia for Bengal in the way you seem to think i do - in this instance i was giving you an example precisely to show that when a country that has a huge no. of problems/corruption/poverty ( who said it was a paradise - you ought to learn how to read! ) reacts to the issue of environmentalism then it shows how important it is. if anyone in the world can say fuck it, im too poor to worry about the ‘cost’ of environmentalism, then because we’re so poor - we could get away with it. what’s been happening in bangladesh is a small start - thats all.
as usual when you don’t like someone’s views you try and get into some sort of cultural deterministic battle. sorry it won’t work with me. why don’t you go argue with some conservative dogmatic types, you might get the response you’re looking for.

actually i’ve just had a fantastic idea. let’s see what the indian blogosphere has to say about these comments of yours - i wonder if you’d appreciate the rest of your countrymen seeing these posts and finding out what you have to say about them? im sure its not the neoliberal globalization bit they’d object to - but it may be amusing to see the reaction to your ‘cultural inferiority’ comments.

Hi Sonia. . .I’ve just check out part of your blog. It’s quite good. Congrats. Now concerning this IC or AV or whoever the hell he is. He has a very simplistic and binomial view of what goes on in this world and i very much appreciate your reply.
Well well, take care

For many people IC/AV may appear crude and ruthless when he argues…. but he is right on many of views. IC gets my vote. One issue however I dont agree with him is the need to not to preserve the environment.
IC you are a credit to Capitalism…… May the truth come out…..
